FATHER MATT SIXTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY AND FORTY YEARS OF PRIESTHOOD
Father Matt has come to Ardrossan to be our Parish Priest. This year he is celebrating forty years in the priesthood and this month his sixty-fifth birthday. This is more than sufficient reason to have a party. Please join us on Saturday 24 September for a Celebration Mass at 5.30pm and afterwards at a party in the Parish Centre. There will be a bar, some music and a few surprise items. There will be a toast and a few words at about 7.00 pm. A light buffet will be available until 9.00 pm. You are welcome to stay for a while or just pop in for some food and a chat.

DOORS OPEN DAY
Saint Peter's has agreed to be included in the Doors Open event which takes place on Sunday, 4 September. Brochures are available at the stall.

There will be no Parents' and Toddlers' Group on Monday 5 September.

SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL ANNUAL MASS
The Annual Mass for the Sick will be celebrated by Bishop John Cunningham in the Good Shepherd Cathedral, Ayr on Wednesday 21 September at 7.30 pm. Tea will be available after Mass in the Cathedral Hall. Parishioner wishing to attend will be made most welcome. If transport is required, please contact a member of our Conference as soon as possible.

SAINT PETER'S WEBSITE
The number of visits to the new Saint Peter's website has far exceeded expectation. There have been over 1500 hits in less than two months. The website spans all years of the Church's existence from its opening in 1938 to the present day, the latter through the weekly bulletins. There are over 160 photographs of priests, parishioners and the building. We are keen to add more pictures and other information. Please try to have a look at the website at www.SaintPeterInChains.net. If you have photographs, a story or a suggestion, please contact the website author at WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterInChains.net. For example, there may be an interest in starting a wedding photographs page. If you or your parents were married in Saint Peter's, these photographs could be included. Your opinions are valued. Thanks to all who have supported the venture.

ALFIE AND EVELYNE AGOSTINI'S GRANDSON
Alfie and Evelyne Agostini are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their grandson, Matthew, a son for Mark and Eleana. Deo Gratis.

SAINT MICHAEL'S ACADEMY ANNIVERSARY MASS
This year is the fortieth anniversary of Saint Michael's Academy's move from Irvine to its present site in Kilwinning. The annual Opening Mass, which will be celebrated in the school on Monday 5 September at 7.00 pm, will mark this event. Former members of staff, parents and pupils are invited to join in the celebration.

SAFE FROM HARM - THE CATHOLIC CHURCH'S POLICY FOR KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE
Without volunteers there can be no Children's Liturgy at 10.00 am Mass on Sundays. It is therefore very important that parents with children who would benefit from participation in the Children's Liturgy indicate their willingness to cooperate in this very worthwhile ministry. Cards will be available at the stall or from Annie Watt, the Parish Co-ordinator for 'Safe From Harm', for volunteers to complete.

Think positively! Never look back at what could have been.
Look at what can be now. God has a way of showing us more.

READINGS
The readings for this weekend's Masses are shown below in English. They are available in eleven other languages
including French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish by clicking on this link.

First
Reading           Ezekiel 33:7-9
The word of the Lord was addressed to me as follows, Son of Man, I have appointed you as sentry to the House of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, warn them in my name. If I say to a wicked man: Wicked wretch, you are to die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked man to renounce his ways, then he shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his death. If, however, you do warn a wicked man to renounce his ways and repent, and he does not repent, then he shall die for his sin, but you yourself will have saved your life.

Second Reading
          Romans 13:8-10
Avoid getting into debt, except the debt of mutual love. If you love your fellow men you have carried out your obligations. All the commandments: You shall not commit adultery, you shall not kill, you shall not steal, you shall not covet, and so on, are summed up in this single command: You must love your neighbour as yourself. Love is the one thing that cannot hurt your neighbour; that is why it is the answer to every one of the commandments.

Gospel
          Matthew 18:15-20
Jesus said to his disciples: "If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you: the evidence of two or three witnesses is required to sustain any charge. But if he refuses to listen to these, report it to the community; and if he refuses to listen to the community, treat him like a pagan or a tax collector. I tell you solemnly, whatever you bind on earth shall be considered bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth shall be considered loosed in heaven. I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them."
