which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £330.11
- many thanks.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
Monday is the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Lady. It is not a Holyday
of Obligation this year.
CHURCH HEATING
A new boiler is soon to be installed. I will keep you posted. After more than
six weeks, only one estimate has been received. Two more are awaited.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
The cost of repairing the gutters and general work on the edges of the roof
was just over £5000, about £1000 of which was vat - a bit more
than expected. The brown envelopes have been a great help. We are having a
long wait for the tiles at the entrance to the Parish Centre to be repaired.
There are difficulties with matching what is there. We had lead stolen from
the link between the Centre and the Church. Estimates and repairs are awaited.
Some of the work will be covered by insurance.
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor at 5.30 pm, Margaret
Harvey at 10.00 am and Alfie Agostini at 12 noon.

Hospitalitié have organised a reunion for all pilgrims and helpers
who helped make this pilgrimage one to remember. The reuinion will be held
on Friday 26 August at Saint Joseph's Church Hall, Kilmarnock from 7.30 pm.

McGrattan, Father Bell, Canon Brown and Denise McCaffery are in Spain
taking part in the twenty-sixth World Youth Day. You can follow their pilgrimage
on the Galloway World Youth Day blog at www.GallowayYouth.org.uk.
SOCIAL EVENTS
During the winter months, we need to organise a few social events - for the
fun of it. The sail to Arran and the barbecue were well attended and enjoyed.
We have very heavy expenditure on a new heating boiler for the church and
the eventual painting of the church. Suggestions will always be welcome.
THE NEW MISSAL
A document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by
clicking here. You
might find it useful. We begin to use the new translation in September and
the new texts for the prayers and so on will be introduced in Advent. There
will be pew cards' available for the start. Please use them and leave them
in the pews. If you wish a pocket or handbag copy, they will be available
from the stall. At the beginning, the responses and the slightly new versions
of the Gloria and Creed are all that matter. Please God we will get used to
responding “and with your spirit” instead of “and also with you" very
soon. The Readings are not changing but they will conclude with “The Word
of the Lord” instead of “This is the Word of the Lord.”. The new Altar Missal
is ordered. It was a gift from a family in the parish. Very soon, Sunday and
even Daily Missals will be available to order. Magnificat will use the new
translations as they are introduced.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND
A diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land, led by Bishop Cunningham, has been
organised for 15 to 22 October 2012. It is expected that this pilgrimage group
will be quite small in number - between 30 and 40 pilgrims - therefore early
booking is recommended. For more information, please see the poster and leaflets
provided. Further details he obtained by contacting Mancunia Travel Limited.
SAINT ANDREW’S ACADEMY REUNION
There is a class reunion planned for the year group who started Saint Andrew's
Academy, Saltcoats in 1986. It will take place on Saturday 10 September in
Saint Peter's Parish Centre. Anybody from that year group interested in going,
please contact Alan Burns on 07977 124524 or Louise (Breen) Clarke 07779 581840.

Amy Gibson, phone 07547 201240 or visit www.PieArts.co.uk.
MARY'S
MEALS
Mary's
Meals work
with some of the poorest people in Third World countries. They offer help
by collecting unwanted or unused clothing and bedding - all textiles - and
turning them into funds to carry out their work overseas. Our annual collection
of used clothes and textiles only takes place on the weekend of 27 and 28
August. Now would be a good time to get ready.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
