SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
OFFERTORY
COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £737.49 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £310.09
- many thanks.
BANKER'S
ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Many thanks for the new Gift Aid form. It is a vital source of income. All
that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds
to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra
25p for every £1 you give the Church.

CHRISTIAN AID BARBECUE
We
shouldn’t need it, but a fire engine is coming to the barbecue on Sunday 12
August at 2.00 pm Come along and help Christian Aid with members of all the
churches in the town.
CHILDREN'S
LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy is run by volunteers on a rota basis. We are in need
of more volunteers for the coming August session. Anyone can volunteer! As
it takes a little time to gain disclosure, we need to think ahead. Please
consider becoming a volunteer, especially if your child is currently in Primary
3 as they will be taking part in the Sacramental Preparation next year or
if your child will be joining our three to five year olds Liturgy Group in
August. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063.
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
The Feast of the Assumption on Wednesday 15 August is a Holyday of Obligation.
We shall have a Vigil Mass at 7.00 pm and Masses at 10.00 am and 7.00 pm.
Mass in Saint
Mary's, Saltcoats
is 7.00 on Tuesday and 11.00 am. Mass in Saint John's, Stevenston is at 10.00
am and 7.00 pm.
CLERGY CHANGES
Among other clergy changes, Father Gerry Donnelly of Dalry and Beith is moving
to Saint Paul’s Church, Ayr and Father Mark Kelly of Stranraer is moving to
Dalry, Beith and the chaplaincy of Saint Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats.
SAINT JOHN’S, STEVENSTON FETE
Saint John's annual fete will be held in its Church Grounds on Sunday 19 August
at 12 noon.
ANNUAL
PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The
annual pilgrimage to Whithorn takes place on Sunday 26 August. Mass will be
celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and in Saint Ninian’s Church
at 4.45 pm.
LAPEL CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these
days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.
50/50 CLUB WINNERS
Congratulations go to our 50/50 Club winners for July. The following members
each win £25 - 59 Benet Brodie, 63 Eileen
Manson, 258 Mary Catherine Swan and 2
Harry Sammons. We thank our members for their
continued support of the 50/50 Club and the parish of Saint Peter in Chains.
CHURCH
REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from
time to time is invaluable. We are in the process of getting estimates for
the painting of the Church. Recent donations of £20 bring the total
to £3384.50.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The price of the parchment and postage has gone up
drastically. We now have to ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty
of time.
NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99
or £9.99.
LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most
European languages can be printed from the parish website.
NOVENA CANDLES
There is a nice selection of Novena Candles available at the stall.
MARY’S MEALS
The team from Mary's Meals
will be here on Sunday 2 September to collect used clothing, textiles and
so on. They cannot take anything else. Have a wardrobe clear-out to support
this important Charity.
GRAND SUMMER BALL
To assist with funds to take sick pilgrims to Lourdes next July, the Diocesan
Lourdes Hospitalite is holding a Grand Summer Ball and Buffet on Friday 31
August in Saint Joseph's Hall, Kilmarnock from 7.30 to midnight. The cost
is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and children free. If there
is sufficient interest, we can arrange a bus if required. Please contact 469006
for tickets as numbers are limited.

USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box
at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones
for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds.

Matt will be on holiday from 4 to 20 September.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
