CANON MATT
Canon
Matt is on holiday from 8 to 17 January. Father John McLean
and Monsignor Dan Hart will supply at the weekend. There will be no weekday
Mass from Wednesday 9 to Wednesday 16 January. We will be back to normal soon.

We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted
to £324.88
- many thanks.
BANKER'S
ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax.
You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why
not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give
the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no
need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
CHURCH REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from
time to time is invaluable. Recent donations of £100 bring the total
to £5014.50. Work is needed on the sacristy roof. It leaks badly.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Elsie Brodie at 5.30
pm and Robert Cooper at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 2 at 5.30 pm and Group 4 at

SAINT MATTHEW'S ACADEMY BURNS SUPPER AND CEILIDH
Saint Matthew’s Academy Sixth Year HCPT is fundraising to send four sixth
year pupils, one first year pupil and one second year pupil to Lourdes with
HCPT this Easter. In order to do this, we have to raise £5000. To help
us achieve this target, we have organised a Burns Supper and Ceilidh in the
school auditorium with traditional music being provided by our very own Mr
Liam Stewart! Please come along and support us in this event and help give
our disadvantaged young people the chance of a lifetime with an all expenses
paid trip to this important shrine of Our Lady. Tickets cost £8.00 per
person and can be obtained by telephoning the school on 01294 606680. We look
forward to seeing you and assure you of a wonderful evening on Thursday 24
January from 7.00 to 10.30 pm.
YEAR OF FAITH
An adult education course for the Year of Faith will be held in Saint Bride’s,
West Kilbride on some Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00 pm. The next session
on 24 January 2013 is A Modern Church in a Modern World by Dr Theodora Hawksley.
A leaflet is available. Pope Benedict has called on all Catholics to celebrate
a Year of Faith from October 2012 to October 2013. It is a time to renew our
faith by prayer, by studying our faith and by renewed charity. It is something
we can all do both privately and publically. Our country has lost its faith
and its way. We each must play our part in renewing faith in God’s goodness
and His word. The Year of Faith Diary is available at the stall. It runs from
October 2012 to October 2013 and will be useful. It costs £2.95. To
mark the Year of Faith, the Bishops of Scotland have set up a special website
and social media feeds to help us learn about all that is happening at local,
national and international level and to assist us to grow in faith during
this time of grace. The address is www.YearOfFaithScotland.com
In addition, special services will be provided via Facebook and Twitter, offering
news, points for reflection and ideas on how to mark the Year of Faith. Please
consider following www.facebook.com/yearoffaithscotland
and www.twitter.com/scotyearoffaith.
JOHN CULLIS
John Cullis has sold his business and moved to Thailand. He has asked me to
pass on his regards and best wishes for 2013 to all his friends - especially
those at the 5.30 pm Vigil Mass.
SCOTTISH CHURCHES STARTER PACKS
Starter Packs is an initiative of the Scottish Churches organised locally
by Women's Aid. When people are allocated a house, they very often don’t have
the basic necessities and many tenancies fail as a result. This initiative
tries to provide a starter pack. There is a leaflet explaining our part in
it.
50/50 CLUB
Many thanks to all our members who have supported the Club over many years.
Our Sign-Up Sunday is on 20 January 2013 when members have the opportunity
to renew their membership and we welcome any new members who wish to join
at this time by contacting the Promoter, Myriame Sammons on 469006.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.ebt.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
