FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £693.78 - many thanks.
BUILDING
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Building Fund collection amounted to £276.23
- many thanks.
ANNUAL MISSION APPEAL
Our annual Mission Appeal this year is made by the Columban Sisters who work
in China, Chile, the Philippines and many other places. Sister Maureen Donohoe
will speak at the Masses this weekend.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.

McLELLAN COMMISSION - A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP JOHN: McLellan Commission:
You will be aware that an external Review Of Safeguarding Protocols and Procedures
within the Catholic Church in Scotland was commis-sioned by the Bishops of
Scotland with the cooperation of the religious congregations which are active
here. It will review the suitability and robustness of our safeguarding procedures
and is known as the McLellan Commission. The Commission is keen to hear from
members of the Catholic Church and others in relation to the ways in which
the Church works to safeguard its members from abuse and harm. If you have
a view on this, whether positive or negative, the Commission would be very
interested to hear from you. If you would like to participate, a secure and
confidential area has been established on the McLellan Commission website
where you can get in touch. A confidential questionnaire on this part of the
website is live until 30 September 2014. The website can be found at: www.McLellanCommission.co.uk.
Alternatively, until 30 September, you can write to The Secretary, The McLellan
Commission, Centrum House, 38 Queen Street, Glasgow G1 3DX. You can also email
t info@McLellanCommission.co.uk.
EMBRACING CHANGE
The report
on the meeting in Saint Matthew's Academy on 29 June is now available.
I am happy to provided a copy on paper for anyone who asks. You might have
to ask me twice! The full text of the notes of our meetings is on the parish
website, as is a summary of the Pentecost Service. Go to www.SaintPeterInChains.net.
This might give you a flavour of our thinking and planning. Please get involved
by reading the notes, making suggestions and so on. A note has gone out to
everyone who attended the Saint Matthew's meeting. I am now looking for about
ten volunteers to continue the process. There will be another meeting in Saint
Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats on Sunday 14 September from 2.00 to 6.00 pm with
various breaks for tea and coffee which will be provided. This is a change
from the original date as the school was not available on 7 September. It
is a 'training' meeting for parishioners from the deanery to take part in
the process the priests completed earlier in the year. It is to enable everyone
to begin to look at the Church in a new way - to shape our future. The training
session will be delivered by Paul and David who led the open meeting on 29
June. Please give your name to Canon
Matt. We can only accommodate about 100 so around ten from each
parish. If you were at the 29 June meeting, you will be asked to say if you
would like to take part. If you didn’t manage the 29 June meeting but would
like to take part, please give me your name. This is the last opportunity
to put your name forward. I can take only a couple more names. I will have
to select but everyone who is interested will be kept informed through homilies,
website, printed copies of the notes and so on. The programme is
called Three Horizons - the horizon we can see now, the horizon we should
be able to see and finally, the horizon we would want to see. It is a process
aiming to make us look forward. Our Church will change. Pope Francis is urging
us to rediscover what Jesus wants us to do.
50/50 CLUB
Many thanks to all members who support the 50/50 Club. If you would like to
join the Club, please contact the Promoter, Myriame Sammons on 01294 469006.
LITURGICAL MUSIC DAY
James MacMillan and Father Guy Nichols of Birmingham Oratory will lead a music
workshop day in Saint John’s Church, Cumnock on Saturday 27 September from
11.30 am. The proper chants from the Roman Missal in English and antiphons
will be taught with a view to their being used in parishes. Music learned
on the day will be sung at the Vigil Mass. For more details and a registration
form, visit www.RCCumnock.org.uk
or contact Father Stephen McGrattan
on info@rccumnock.org.uk or 01290 421031.
DIOCESAN CHOIR
The Diocesan Choir supports singing and music at Diocesan events. The rehearsals
begin again from Thursday 4 September in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr and
new members are invited to join. Reading music would be an advantage but most
members do not read music so don’t be put off if you just enjoy singing. Contact
David Robinson on 01292 560125 or 07714 340854 for more information.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO SAINT NINIAN’S CAVE, WHITHORN

Whithorn at 4.45 pm.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
