SUNDAY MASS TIMES
Sunday Mass times
in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £887.36 - many thanks.
BUILDING
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Building Fund collection amounted to £260.46 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor at 5.30
pm and Tom Reid at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Aidan and Calum at 5.30
pm and Group 4 at 10.30 am.
SUNDAY
TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Sharon McLaughlin’s team.
We have some new teams, but we don’t have the consumers. It is true that we
had to cancel a few times over the summer but we are back in business. We
should give it another couple of months to see if custom picks up. Please
support those who make such a big effort at their own expense each week.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday. We
have groups for three to five years, primary 1 and 2 and primary 3. There
is a Sacramental Preparation group for Primary 4 children which will start
in October. All children are welcome. Next week's helpers are Geraldine Butcher
and Elese McCormack for the pre-fives, Maria Paterson-Kidd and George Kidd
for primaries 1 and 2 and Frances Gemmell and Gayle Paterson for primary 3.
CANON MATT HOLIDAY
Canon
Matt is on holiday from
8 to 26 September. Canon Poland (463225) and Father Bell (463461)
are available. Father Kinsler will cover the weekend Masses. Father Kinsler
will also offer Mass on a Wednesday morning at 10.00 am. There should be morning
Mass in the neighbouring parishes. Please check with them. The Parish Office
is open during office hours.
WORDS OF POPE FRANCIS TO THINK ABOUT
The great danger in today’s world, pervaded as it is by consumerism, is the
desolation and anguish born of a complacent yet covetous heart, the feverish
pursuit of frivolous pleasures and a blunted conscience. Whenever our interior
life becomes caught up in its own interests and concerns, there is no longer
room for others, no place for the poor. God’s voice is no longer heard, the
quiet joy of his love is no longer felt and the desire to do good fades. This
is a very real danger for believers too. Many fall prey to it and end up resentful,
angry and listless. That is no way to live a dignified and fulfilled life.
It is not God’s will for us, nor is it the life in the Spirit which has its
source in the heart of the risen Christ. Pope Francis
PROTECTING VULNERABLE GROUPS UPDATE
All volunteers who still require the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Certificate
are invited to the Parish Centre on Sunday 21 September at 2.00 pm or Saint
John’s Parish Hall on Monday 29 September at 7.00 pm.

to Office@SaintPeterInChains.net? Just say hello and who you are. Postal address
and phone would be useful as well. All our data is protected by the Data Protection

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY COFFEE MORNING
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society
is holding a Coffee Morning and Table Tops on Saturday 4 October 2014 from
10.30 am to 12.30 pm in the Parish Centre to aid the purchase of school uniforms
for South African children in need. Tickets are available at the door costing
£1 for adults and 50p for children. All donations of baking, books,
bric-a-brac, bottles and raffle prizes would be gratefully received. The Parish
Centre will be open on the evening of Friday 3 October for donations. All
are welcome.
EMBRACING CHANGE
There will be a meeting in Saint
Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats on the afternoon of Sunday 14 September.
It is a 'training' meeting for parishioners from the Deanery to take part
in the process the Priests completed earlier in the year. It is to enable
everyone to begin to look at the Church in a new way - to shape our future.
The training session will be delivered by Paul and David who led the open
meeting on 29 June. I have the necessary number of representative from our
parish but everyone who is interested will be kept informed through homilies,
website, printed copies of the notes and so on. The session will be from 2.00
to 6.00 pm with various breaks and tea and coffee provided. The programme
is called Three Horizons - the horizon we can see now, the horizon we should
be able to see and finally, the horizon we would want to see. It is a process
aiming to make us look forward. Our Church will change. Pope Francis is urging
us to rediscover what Jesus wants us to do.
NATIONAL YOUTH PILGRIMAGE TO SAINT MARGARET’S TOMB, DUNFERMLINE
There will be a day-long pilgrimage to Dunfermline for all young people on
21 September 2014. You can visit her cave, tomb, Dunfermline Abbey and join
with other Scottish young people for Mass at 4.00 pm followed by dinner together.
For information, please visit www.GallowayYouth.org.uk
or contact Father Stephen McGrattan
on info@rccumnock.org.uk.
LITURGICAL MUSIC DAY
James MacMillan and Father Guy Nichols of Birmingham Oratory will lead a music
workshop day in Saint John’s Church, Cumnock on Saturday 27 September from
11.30 am. The proper chants from the Roman Missal in English and antiphons
will be taught with a view to their being used in parishes. Music learned
on the day will be sung at the Vigil Mass. For more details and a registration
form, visit www.RCCumnock.org.uk
or contact Father Stephen McGrattan
on info@rccumnock.org.uk or 01290 421031.

for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and

and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and

abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
