SUNDAY MASS TIMES
Sunday Mass times
in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £650.03 - many thanks.
MAINTENANCE
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Maintenance Fund collection amounted to £237.89- many
thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Marade Griffin at 5.30
pm and Patricia Milligan at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Aidan at 5.30 pm
and Group 5 at 10.30 am.
SUNDAY
TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Sadie Gilmour’s team.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday. All
children are welcome. Next week's helpers are Geraldine Butcher and
Sarah Vallance for the pre-fives, 'to be confirmed' and
Anya
Breen for primaries 1 and 2, Andrena Hughes and
Michelle Morton for primary 3 and Maria Paterson-Kidd and
George Kidd for primary 4.
CANON MATT
Canon
Matt hopes to be able to offer weekday Mass this week. I am a bit
limited in mobility and therefore needing help. So far, thank God, all is
going to plan but progress is too slow for my liking. Thanks for the cards
and good wishes.
SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND (SCIAF) SUNDAY
There is a letter about SCIAF and the Wee Boxes are available.
BISHOP NOLAN
The video of the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop William, which took place
on 14 February, is available on the Diocesan website, on www.GallowayDiocese.org.uk.
It is hoped that it will be available on DVD soon. There are over
a hundred photos of the Ordination on Saint Peter's website.
THE HOLY SEASON OF LENT
Lent is a time for prayer, penance and almsgiving in the long-standing tradition
of our Church. During Lent, we are making the journey to Easter just as everyone
of us is making the journey to Heaven.
PRAYER
Don’t let a day go by without a few moments for God, come to Mass more regularly
and encourage your children to say their night and morning prayers. Try to
attend Stations of the Cross on a Friday at 9.40 am when possible.
FASTING
Give up something - smoking, alcohol or food you don’t need. The possibilities
are endless and the rewards are amazing.
ALMSGIVING
Take a Scottish Catholic International Aid fund (SCIAF) box and constantly
give it your spare change. Support a charity at home or abroad and share your
time with those who need you.
50/50 CLUB WINNERS
Our next draw for March will be on Saturday 21 March. Any member who has forgotten
to renew their membership please contact the Promoter on 469006 as soon as
possible. Many thanks. New members are welcome at any time during the year.
LEGION OF MARY CURIA
Thanks to the Legion of Mary Curia for the kind donation for the use of the
meeting room in the Parish Centre.
PALM SUNDAY NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING
The Palm Sunday National Youth Gathering will be in Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral,
Motherwell on Sunday 29 March at 2.00 pm. It is a time of teaching, Mass and
Dinner. Full details are on the poster. The contact is Father
Stephen McGrattan on info@RCCumnock.org.uk or through www.GallowayYouth.org.uk.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL LENTEN APPEAL FOR TOILETRIES
During the weeks of Lent, the Saint
Vincent de Paul Society is once again asking the parishioners
of Saint Peter’s to donate both male and female toiletries for use in the
Ozanam Centre in Glasgow. The Ozanam Centre assists the homeless, both male
and female, so any donations of toiletries would be very gratefully received.
A box will be placed in the Church porch for any donations and we hope that
we can rely on your usual very generous support. Thank you.
CONFIRMATION AND FIRST COMMUNION
The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion will be celebrated this
year at the 10.30 am Mass on Sundays 3, 10 and 17 May, as we have done for
many years. The reason for the three Sundays is so that the children are easily
called by name, have enough room for family and friends and are made to feel
as special as they are. Twenty-nine children are on our list, including those
added recently, so about ten children each Sunday would be comfortable. I
will put a list at the stall for you to choose whichever Sunday suits. I am
happy to add another Sunday or arrange any other date you may require. I know
that family work and travel arrangements can be difficult. Just let me know
if none of the dates suit. The meeting for parents has
been postponed till
I recover from my ankle surgery. I'm sorry about
this. I will re-arrange before Easter.
FAMILY PRIZE BINGO FOR PILGRIM HELPER
Aidan Hughes, one of our altar servers, has volunteered to join the Diocesan
Pilgimage to Lourdes in July as a pilgrim helper. To help fund his costs,
we are holding a Family Prize Bingo on Saturday 21 March at 7.00 pm in the
Parish Centre. Tickets cost £1 and include tea or coffee and home baking.
Bring Your Own Bottle is also an option. If you feel you would like to come
along and join in the fun, Aidan will be selling tickets after the Vigil Mass
on Saturday night and also after 10.30 am Mass on Sunday. Please consider
coming along. Any raffle prizes or donations would also be greatly appreciated.
Tickets are available from the Parish Office or by paying at the door. All
are welcome.
YOUTH 4 LIFE SCOTLAND
Bishop John Keenan of Paisley will be the keynote speaker at the launch of
a new pro-life organisation, Youth 4 Life Scotland, aimed at young people
aged between thirteen and nineteen. The event will take place in Turnbull
Hall, 13-15 Southpark Terrace, Glasgow, G12 8LG and will run from 6.00 to
8.00 pm on 30 April. It will provide information and more on the pro-life
movement, especially for young people.
SAINT PETER'S PARENT COUNCIL RACE NIGHT
Saint Peter’s Primary School Parent Council is having a Race Night in the
Parish Centre on Friday 27 March. Full details will be given later.
EMBRACING CHANGE
Out of all the Embracing Change meetings have emerged five groups, all lay
led but with priests taking part. These are:

|
Formation
for Ministry |
|

|

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
THANKS
Grateful thanks to Saint Clare for favours received. May the Sacred Heart
of Jesus be praised, adored and glorified and loved today and every day throughout
the world, Amen. DJ
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT

and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
