SUNDAY MASS TIMES

in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
HOSPITAL
CHAPLAINCY
If a member of your family or a friend is sick, please let us know and give
us the details. Deacon Bill Corbett (01292 521208, 07904 248948, Rev.BillCorbett@btinternet.com)
is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital and is assisted by the priest on call
each week. Canon Pat Keegans (01292 263488) is the chaplain to Ayr Hospital
and the Ayrshire Hospice.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. A Standing Order would make the
handling of money so much easier. Have you signed a Gift Aid form? If you
are a taxpayer the Church would get 25p added to every £1 you donate.
COLLECTIONS
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £801.70 and the Scottish
Catholic International Aid Fund collection to £764.21 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
PARISH RECORDS
Our parish records are covered by the Data Protection Act and are for parish
use only. We cannot give out phone numbers or addresses. Please help us to
keep our records up to date using the cards provided.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor at 5.30
pm and Robert Cooper and Emily Tarbert at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30
pm and Group 4 at 10.30 am.
CHILDREN’S
LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday. All
children are welcome. Next week's helpers are Jacqueline Waugh and Morgan
Roy for the pre-fives, Claire Sweenie, Linda Martin and Shannon Simmons for
primaries 1, 2 and 3 and Michelle Morton for primary 4.
SUNDAY
TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Maria Boyle's team.
Would you consider making a team or joining a team that organises the teas
and coffees after Sunday 10.30 am Mass? If so, please leave your details at
the Parish Office or telephone 01294 464063.
THE HOLY SEASON OF LENT
We are in the holy season of Lent. The Mass vestments are purple, the Gloria
and the Alleluia are omitted from the Liturgy but the biggest change must
be in ourselves. This is the Springtime - Lent of the soul. It is a time for
fasting, for prayer and for almsgiving. The little Scottish Catholic Internation
Aid Fund (SCIAF) boxes are available for you to use. Every £1 given
to SCIAF is being doubled by the Government this year and if you gave your
contribution by cheques and accompanied by your name and address then SCIAF
can claim the Gift Aid tax rebate on it. Prayer and penance are very personal
things but are also a very necessary part of our Christian life. When it is
possible, we will make the Way of the Cross on a Friday morning at 9.40 am
before Mass.
EMBRACING CHANGE
Development The Embracing Change work continues and after
a period of reflection following the Parish Conversations, the next phase
is being developed and more news will follow soon. Thanks to all of you who
completed a questionnaire at the Parish Conversations. The Embracing Change
team will be in touch shortly. If you meant to fill in a questionnaire, but
never got around to it, please let your parish priest know or email quinnjo@hotmail.com
and we will send you a form.
Deanery Penance Service There will be a Deanery Penance
Service - A Church Seeking Forgiveness - in Saint
Bride's Church, West Kilbride on Palm Sunday 20 March at 3.00 pm. This
will be a non-sacramental service during which we will ask God for mercy on
the Church for the ways in which it has hurt, wounded and offended its members
and the wider society.
Deanery Stations of the Cross There will be Deanery Stations
of the Cross in Saint
Mary's Church, Irvine on Good Friday 25 March at 7.00 pm.
SCOTTISH
CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND
This weekend, the second collection will be for SCIAF. Proceeds of such collections
will be doubled by the Government this year.
LENTEN PENANCE SERVICES

Mary's Church, Saltcoats - Tuesday 15 March at 2.00 pm

THANKS FROM EVELYNE
Evelyne Agostini would like to thank you for all the cards, flowers and prayers
received during her short illness. Holy Mass will be offered for your intentions.
CHURCH DOORS
Before another winter hits us, we need to replace the Church doors. The main
doors swell badly in the rain and are impossible to open and shut properly.
Because the Church is an A-Listed building, more durable replacement doors
need to be specially made. This is being done but the total cost of main and
side doors will be over £10000. I need to make an appeal to you for
help. Brown envelopes will be available and any fundraising you can organise
will be extremely useful. Extra in the second collection is a perfect way
of helping.
CATHEDRAL SUNG EVENING PRAYER FOR LENT
Evening Prayer of the Church will be sung in Saint Margaret's Cathedral, Ayr
on Sunday 13 March at 6.00 pm. You will be very welcome.
HMS DASHER ASSOCIATION
The annual remembrance of the sinking of HMS
Dasher off Ardrossan in 1943 - when 379 crew were lost
- will take place this year on Sunday 3 April to avoid Easter Sunday. There
will be a service at the memorial at 11.30 am followed by tea in the Parish
Centre.
THE SCOTTISH REFORMATION
A series of talks and discussions on the Reformation will be given in Saint
Bride's Church, West Kilbride on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00
pm. The remaining dates are 6 April, 4 May, 25 May and 22 June. The six speakers,
men and women, include people from both the Reformed and Catholic traditions.
If you are interested, please go along. If you remember, please let Father
Boland know on joe-boland@btconnect.com. Details are on the poster.
JUMBULANCE PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
There are places available for helpers and sick pilgrims - VIPs - to travel
to Lourdes on the Jumbulance Pilgrimage with the group departing from our
diocese this Eastertide. The pilgrimage is from 28 April to 7 May and is especially
suited to those unable to fly due to health reasons or for whom a smaller
group is beneficial. Full medical and nursing care is provided. For more details
or to book a place, please contact Alison Neil on 07749 555955 or amd.neil@outlook.com.
HCPT LOURDES JETSET GROUP 376
HCPT thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to our race night which
raised £3500. The group will be travelling with ten local adults, who
need additional support, to Lourdes on Saturday 26 March for the Easter celebrations.
Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL LENTEN APPEAL FOR TOILETRIES
During the weeks of Lent the Saint
Vincent de Paul Society is once again asking the parishioners
of Saint Peter's to donate both male and female toiletries for use in the
Ozanam Centre in Glasgow. The Ozanam Centre assists the homeless, both male
and female, so any donations of either male of female toiletries would be
very gratefully received. A box will be placed in the Church porch for any
donations and we hope that we can rely on your usual very generous support.
Thank you.
COMMUNITY FAMILY FUN QUIZ NIGHT
There will be a Community Family Fun Quiz Night organised by Girl Guiding
on Friday 18 March from 6.30 to approximately 8.30 pm. Adult tickets cost
£5.00 and Child tickets £2.50. Tea, coffee and squash will be
provided. There will be a fundraising raffle and a tuck shop. You're welcome
to bring your own refreshments. All proceeds will be split between the Senior
Girls of 5th Ardrossan Guides, who are raising money to participate in the
one hundredth birthday celebration trip, Senior Section Spectacular Escape
to Cologne and Saint Peter's Church Hall who allow us to use their hall every
Thursday night for Guides. Tickets are available at the door. All are welcome.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for Church maintenance.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.

and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
