SUNDAY MASS TIMES

in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.
SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
HOSPITAL
CHAPLAINCY
If a member of your family or a friend is sick, please let us know and give
us the details. Deacon Bill Corbett (01292 521208, 07904 248948, Rev.BillCorbett@btinternet.com)
is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital and is assisted by the priest on call
each week. Canon Pat Keegans is the chaplain to Ayr Hospital and the Ayrshire
Hospice.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. A Standing Order would make the
handling of money so much easier. Have you signed a Gift Aid form? If you
are a taxpayer the Church would get 25p added to every £1 you donate.
COLLECTIONS
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £685.41 and the Maintenance
Fund collection to £292.65 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
PARISH RECORDS
Our parish records are covered by the Data Protection Act and are for parish
use only. We cannot give out phone numbers or addresses. Please help us to
keep our records up to date using the cards provided.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Katrina Pollock at 5.30 pm and
Robert Cooper at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30
pm and Group 4 at 10.30 am.
CHILDREN’S
LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy restarts in September when it is celebrated during the
10.30 am Sunday Mass.
SUNDAY
TEAS
Next
Sunday's teas will be served by Sharon McLaughlin's team. Would
you consider making a team or joining a team that organises the teas and coffees
after Sunday 10.30 am Mass? If so, please leave your details at the Parish
Office or telephone 01294 464063.
EMBRACING CHANGE
As a deanery, we are looking to recruit a small number of people to refresh
the Steering Group of the Embracing Change process. The Steering Group sits
alongside the other Embracing Change Groups - Spirituality, Outreach to the
Poor, Formation for Ministry et cetera - and ensures that Groups are adhering
to the overall Embracing Change aim and tackling their particular remit effectively.
The Steering Group should be a driving force and a critical friend that is
constructive and candid. Steering Group membership assumes as 'given' an active
Faith, an understanding and a commitment to the Embracing Change process and
an awareness of 'the bigger picture'. In particular we especially need people
who can animate and energise groups. If you would be willing to be considered
for this role, please speak to your parish priest by 28 August, or if you
are unable to, please contact the Dean, Canon Martin Poland on 01294 463225
or MartindPoland@gmail.com. Thank you.
LOURDES GROUP
The Lourdes Group's next fundraiser is a Bingo on Friday 9 September at 7.00
pm for 7.30 pm in the Parish Centre. All are welcome. A Tea ticket costs £1
and Bingo books can be purchased on the night. Adults and children are welcome.
Committee members are selling tickets or they can be obtained from Harry on
469006, Pam on 601575 or Margaret in the Parish Office on 464063.
NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE TO CARFIN
The national pilgrimage to Carfin in honour of Saint Margaret and to mark
the Year of Mercy takes place on Sunday 4 September. Mass will be celebrated
at 3.00 pm. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available between 12 noon
and 2.00 pm.
DIOCESAN
PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND
The Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Holy Land takes place between 10 and 17 October
this year. There are now only a few places left at the advertised price of
£895 so if you are still thinking of taking part it would be advisable
to contact Joe Walsh Tours very soon on 0141 530 5060. Further information
can be obtained from Father David Borland at DavidBorland1998@sky.com or by
calling him on 01387 254281.
MASS IN POLISH
Mass will be celebrated in Polish on Sunday 21 August at 7 pm. in Saint
John’s Church, Stevenston. All are welcome to attend whether you
speak Polish or not.
SAINT JOHN'S SUMMER FETE
The Summer Fete for Saint
John’s Church, Stevenston, will be on Sunday 14 August at 12.30

AFRICA FOOD CRISIS
Millions are going hungry in the worst drought to hit eastern and southern
Africa for fifty years. The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund is getting
life-giving food to those who need it most but many more families need help.
The Scottish Government will match every £1 we raise for Malawi up to
at least £70000. We are also reaching out to people in Ethiopia and
South Sudan. Please give anything you can and keep the people of Africa in
your prayers.

MARY'S MEALS
Thank you for the many donations, of items and cash, for the Mary's
Meals Backpack appeal. We will soon be in a position to fill more than
a hundred further backpacks to send to Malawi. To this end, we need the following
items - hand towels, coloured pencils, pencil cases, sharpeners, jotters,
small balls, dessert spoons and toothpaste. If you would like to donate any
items please leave them in the box in the Church porch. Thank you again for
your generosity.
The annual appeal to the parish and collection of textiles - only - will take
place this weekend. Used clothing and all textiles can be left at the Parish
Centre on Saturday 13. The van will leave after the 10.30 am Mass on the Sunday.
THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY - PILGRIMAGE TO SAINT NINIAN'S CAVE
Our parish should celebrate the Year of Mercy by taking part in the Pilgrimage
to Saint Ninian's Cave, Whithorn on Sunday 28 August. A bus - the parish will
bear the cost - will leave Saint Peter's at 11.30 am. Bring a picnic. Mass
will be at 4.00 pm in the Church for those unable to walk along the beach
to Saint Ninian's Cave and at the Cave for those able to walk the fair distance.
Names - one per space - should be written on the sheet at the stall, please.
The photograph below was taken in the 1950s.
CHURCH DOORS
Both the side and front doors are now fitted. Because the Church is an A-Listed
building, more durable replacement doors needed to be specially made at a
cost of over £10000. I need to make an appeal to you for help. Brown
envelopes will be available and any fundraising you can organise will be extremely
useful. Extra in the second collection is a perfect way of helping. So far,
donations total £4583.
SPONSORED CYCLE RUN ROUND CUMBRAE
Ami Paterson cycled round Cumbrae to raise money for the new doors and raised
£290. She is grateful to everyone who sponsored and supported her -
so is Canon
Matt!
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are still available at the stall.

PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT

and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
