SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
HOSPITAL
CHAPLAINCY
If a member of your family or a friend is sick, please let us know and give
us the details. Deacon Bill Corbett (01292 521208, 07904 248948, Rev.BillCorbett@btinternet.com)
is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital and is assisted by the priest on call
each week. Canon Pat Keegans is the chaplain to Ayr Hospital and the Ayrshire
Hospice.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. We are grateful for your generous support in collections. If you can
manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. A Standing
Order would make the handling of money so much easier. Have you signed a Gift
Aid form? If you are a taxpayer the Church would get 25p added to every £1
you donate.
COLLECTIONS
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £704.26 and the Maintenance
Fund collection to £277.94 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.

Our parish records are covered by the Data Protection Act and are for parish
use only. We cannot give out phone numbers or addresses. Please help us to
keep our records up to date using the cards provided.

Children's Liturgy restarts in September when it is celebrated during the
10.30 am Sunday Mass.

TEAS
Next
Sunday's teas will be served by the Caritas team. Would you
consider making a team or joining a team that organises the teas and coffees
after Sunday 10.30 am Mass? If so, please leave your details at the Parish
Office or telephone 01294 464063.
CANON MATT HOLIDAY
Canon
Matt wil be on holiday from 29 August to 23 September. The parish
office will be staffed as usual during office hours from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
on weekdays. Neighbouring parishes will be assisting and Father John Kinsler
will cover the weekend Masses. Canon Pat McSorley will say a morning Mass
on two Fridays and Father Kinsler will say a morning Mass on two Wednesdays.
The Bulletin will give information each week as will the website. Masses will
be offered elsewhere for Father Lynch,
Father Gabriel,
Canon Matthews, Canon McGinness,
Mary Brown, Alice McGrattan,
George Hilferty, Janie McGonigle and Sheila Douglas at the request of one
of our parishioners. Mass will also be offered for Brian Collins and Robert
McFarland.

MESSAGE FROM BISHOP NOLAN
May
I thank everyone for their concern and prayers after my recent heart attack?
Could I ask you to pass on my thanks to the many people in the Diocese who
have been praying for me. The prayers have been working, since I am feeling
fine. I
am very grateful to the National Health Service and the healthcare professionals
who ensured speedy treatment. I was taken straight to Hairmyres Hospital where
a team was waiting for me and immediately put a stent in the artery that had
narrowed. Since then I have had no pain and I expect to make a full recovery.
I was shown a before and after picture of the now unblocked artery - and if
it took sixty plus years for that artery to become blocked, I am hopeful it
will stay unblocked for another sixty. The
rehab nurse will see me again in hospital in six weeks time. She does not
want me to do much till then. I am following orders, taking it easy and gradually
increasing my activity day by day. In the meantime I will stay in Motherwell
to recuperate. I
am sorry that I will miss the pilgrimage to Whithorn and other celebrations
over the next few weeks, but I look forward to being back in the Diocese,
fully fit, as soon as possible.
EMBRACING
CHANGE
As a deanery, we are looking to recruit a small number of people to refresh
the Steering Group of the Embracing Change process. The Steering Group sits
alongside the other Embracing Change Groups - Spirituality, Outreach to the
Poor, Formation for Ministry et cetera - and ensures that Groups are adhering
to the overall Embracing Change aim and tackling their particular remit effectively.
The Steering Group should be a driving force and a critical friend that is
constructive and candid. Steering Group membership assumes as 'given' an active
Faith, an understanding and a commitment to the Embracing Change process and
an awareness of 'the bigger picture'. In particular we especially need people
who can animate and energise groups. If you would be willing to be considered
for this role, please speak to your parish priest by 28 August, or if you

MARY'S MEALS
Thank you for the many donations, of items and cash, for the Mary's
Meals Backpack appeal. We will soon be in a position to fill more than
a hundred further backpacks to send to Malawi. To this end, we need the following
items - hand towels, coloured pencils, pencil cases, sharpeners, jotters,
small balls, dessert spoons and toothpaste. If you would like to donate any
items please leave them in the box in the Church porch. Thank you again for
your generosity.
50/50 CLUB
Three new 50/50 Club members joined in July and we ask those members who have
not yet renewed for 2016 to let us know if they still wish to continue their
membership. We welcome new members at any time and appreciate their continued
support. The Promoter is Mrs Myriame Sammons on 469006.
LOURDES GROUP BINGO
The Lourdes Group's next fundraiser is a Bingo on Friday 9 September at 7.00
pm for 7.30 pm in the Parish Centre. All are welcome. A Tea ticket costs £1
and Bingo books can be purchased on the night. Adults and children are welcome.
Committee members are selling tickets or they can be obtained from Harry on

NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE TO CARFIN
The national pilgrimage to Carfin in honour of Saint Margaret and to mark
the Year of Mercy takes place on Sunday 4 September. Mass will be celebrated
at 3.00 pm. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available between 12 noon
and 2.00 pm.
SAINT
PETER'S CHILDREN'S CENTRE
Saint Peter's Children's Centre has re-opened on Mondays and Fridays at 8.50
am for the nursery class, 1.00 pm for the two to three class and at 9.30 to
11.30 am for the toddler group. Funded places available for immediate start
for children aged three years or over. Children who are three before 28 February
2017 can register for a place now. For further information, please call Josephine

SAINT PETER'S RAINBOWS AND BROWNIES
The Monday night Rainbows and Brownies return on Monday 22 August at the usual
times. Rainbows run from 5.30 to 6.30 pm and Brownies from 6.30 to 8.00 pm.
We welcome the girls back and hope they enjoyed the holidays. Any girls wishing
to join, please be aware we have a long waiting list and parents should contact
Leaders in charge to make arrangements to join. Rainbows should contact Mary

SAINT ANDREW'S CHURCH CAR BOOT SALE
Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church is having a Car Boot Sale on Saturday 3 September
from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.
THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY - PILGRIMAGE TO SAINT NINIAN'S CAVE
Our parish should celebrate the Year of Mercy by taking part in the Pilgrimage
to Saint Ninian's Cave, Whithorn on Sunday 28 August. The bus will leave Saint
Peter's at 11.30 am. Bring a picnic. Mass starts at 4 .45pm in the Church
at Whithorn for those unable to walk along the beach to Saint Ninian's Cave.
Mass will be at 4.00 pm at the Cave for those able to walk the fair distance.
There will be various stops on the way. The photograph below was taken in
the 1950s.
CHURCH DOORS
Both the side and front doors are now fitted. Because the Church is an A-Listed
building, more durable replacement doors needed to be specially made at a
cost of over £10000. I need to make an appeal to you for help. Brown
envelopes will be available and any fundraising you can organise will be extremely
useful. Extra in the second collection is a perfect way of helping. So far,
donations total £4583.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for Church maintenance.
