THURSDAY CLUB TWENTY-FIFTH
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The
Thursday Club celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of its founding in 1983
with a social event in the Parish Centre on 13 June 2008.
George McGrattan
was compère and Richard Devine of Ayr provide dance music on the keyboard.
The Von Crap Singers lead a sing-song and Marie-Anne McGrattan sang songs from
the shows. Michael and Fiona Brown and family provided an excellent buffet.
There
were a few acknowledgements of Alice McGrattan as the longest serving member and
her twenty-five years as secretary. Moira Donnelly invided her to cut the celebration
cake. Margaret Caddies, Muriel Doherty, Moira Donnelly, Maria Hilferty and Maureen
Kelly sang a song written by Margaret in tribute to Alice. Alice was also presented
with flowers and a version of her family tree, embroidered by Muriel Docherty.
