SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection amounted to £653.54 - many thanks. Banker's Orders
amount to an average of £4300 per month. Each month £4000 is repaid
to the Diocese for the building loan and levy.
BANKER'S
ORDERS
Paying your collection by monthly or quarterly banker's order makes
money handling much safer. Banker's Order forms are available in the porch.
MISSION COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Missions amounted to £1095.61 - many thanks.
FEAST OF ALL SAINTS
Thursday is the Feast Of All Saints and is a Holyday of
Obligation. There will be a Vigil Mass on Wednesday at 7.00 pm and Masses on Thursday
at 10.00 am and 7.00 pm.
MISSIO
SCOTLAND
Envelopes are available at the stall for members of the Association
of the Propagation of the Faith. Life membership costs £100, family membership
£25 and ordinary membership £10.
SAINT
PETER'S CHURCH KEYRINGS AND FRIDGE MAGNETS
Over the next few weekends, the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society
will be selling keyrings at £1.00 and fridge magnets at £1.50. They
hold photographs of Saint Peter's Church.

BOOK
OF THE DEAD
During the month of November, the Book of the Dead will be available
in front of the Blessed Sacrament Altar for you to write the names of deceased
family and friends.
CEMETERY
MASS
The annual Mass for the deceased will be celebrated in Ardrossan Cemetery on Sunday
18 November at 2.00 pm.
ANNUAL
MASS FOR THE BEREAVED
The annual Mass for the bereaved will be celebrated
on Tuesday 20 November at 7.00 pm. Saint
Anne's Guild
will provide tea in the Parish Centre after Mass.
SACRAMENTAL
PREPARATION
Parents of children receiving the Sacraments are invited to a
meeting in the Church on Monday, 5 November at 7.00 pm.
COMPULSORY
CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING
Child Protection training will be held in the Parish
Centre on Sunday 4 November from 2.00 - 3.30 pm. Saint
Vincent de Paul Society members, Eucharistic Ministers, Sacristans and Children's
Liturgy Helpers are all required to attend. All other parishioners would be very
welcome as a good presentation will be offered raising awareness of this very
important subject.

CLUB
COFFEE MORNING
The Thursday
Club
is having its annual Coffee Morning on Saturday 3 November at 10.30 am in the
Parish Centre. There will be the usual stalls - bric-a-brac, books, fancy goods,
toys, home baking and so on. Donations would be very much appreciated. Tickets
cost £1. The Parish Centre will be open on Friday 2 November from 1.00 to
6.00 pm to receive donations.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations and best wishes to Elizabeth and Angus Macrae
who are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Tuesday. Elizabeth and
Angus were married in Saint Bride's Church, West Kilbride on 29 October, 1957.

GALLOWAY
LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ
The annual Ceilidh for Galloway Lourdes Hospitalité
will take place on Friday 16 November at 7.30 pm in the Volunteer Rooms, Irvine
with the Oran Mor Ceilidh Band. Tickets costing £7.50 and including a light
supper are available from Maureen or Anne.

Now that Gerry Brown is home, Janet and family would like to thank all those who

RETREAT
DAY FOR MUSICIANS
A retreat day for musicians is being held on Saturday 10
November at Smithstone House, Kilwinning from 10.00 am for a 10.30 am start to
3.30 pm. It is being led by Father Stephen Latham from Staint Joseph's Church,
Kilmarnock and is entitled 'And God said …. chill!' Among other things, we will
be looking at the commandment to seek proper peace, relaxation and rest. The day
is for everyone involved in parish music, including cantors, instrumentalists,
choir members and organists. The cost is £10 and includes a light lunch
and refreshments. For further information contact Michael McCulloch.
WORLD
YOUTH DAY FUNDS
The will be a World Youth Day fundraising Folk Night in Saint
John's Hall, Stevenston on Friday 2 November at 7.30 pm. It will feature the Caledonian
Piping Club and The McCalmans. Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from
John Slavin.
LEGION
OF MARY
From Tuesday 30 October, the Legion
of Mary will meet after Mass at 11.00am in the Parish Centre. From November,
the Legion will lead the Rosary before weekday morning Mass except in May and
October when it will be led by the Thursday
Club.

35:12-14.16-19
The
Lord is a judge who is no respecter of personages. He shows no respect of personages
to the detriment of a poor man, he listens to the plea of the injured party. He
does not ignore the orphans supplication, nor the widows as she pours out her
story. The man who with his whole heart serves God will be accepted, his petitions
will carry to the clouds. The humble mans prayer pierces the clouds, until it
arrives he is inconsolable nor will he desist until the Most High takes notice
of him, acquits the virtuous and delivers judgement. And the Lord will not be
slow, nor will he be dilatory on their behalf.

Timothy 4:6-8.16-18
My
life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me
to be gone. I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the
finish; I have kept the faith; all there is to come now is the crown of righteousness
reserved for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that
Day; and not only to me but to all those who have longed for his Appearing. The
first time I had to present my defence, there was not a single witness to support
me. Every one of them deserted me - may they not be held accountable for it. But
the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the whole message might
be proclaimed for all the pagans to hear; and so I was rescued from the lion's
mouth. The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely
to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Gospel
Luke
18:9-14
Jesus
spoke the following parable to some people who prided themselves on being virtuous
and despised everyone else. Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee,
the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself,
"I thank you, God, that I am not grasping, unjust, adulterous like the rest
of mankind, and particularly that I am not like this tax collector here. I fast
twice a week; I pay tithes on all I get." The tax collector stood some distance
away, not daring even to raise his eyes to heaven; but he beat his breast and
said, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner." This man, I tell you, went
home again at rights with God; the other did not. For everyone who exalts himself
will be humbled, but the man who humbles himself will be exalted.
