Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £642.00. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per month.

Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

Last weekend's collection for the
Comboni Missionaries amounted to £876.90 - many thanks for your continuing generosity.

Wednesday of this week is the first day of Lent, the period of six weeks which leads us to Easter. Mass and distribution of the blessed ashes will take place at 10.00 am and 7.00 pm. Ashes will be distributed in both of our schools. The ashes are a sign that during Lent we will do penance - making time for prayer, penance and sharing. Children are good at 'giving up …. for Lent' but it would be good for us! So would a Saturday morning Mass or a Thursday evening Mass during Lent. Towards the end of Lent, the parishes in the Three Towns will have a time set aside for a Service of Forgiveness. It would be good to start thinking about it now.

The North Ayrshire Schools Flagship Concert will be held at 4.00 pm on Sunday 22 March in the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow. It will be a spectacular concert featuring over 500 pupils from North Ayrshire schools with special guests from Uddevalla Music School, Sweden, Tickets costing £8 and £6 concession are available from the box office on 0141 353 8000.

Next weekend's readers are Margaret Brogan at 5.30 pm, Angela Body at 10.00 am and Tom Reid at 12.00 noon. New readers are always welcome. Please talk to Canon Matt about it. For a parish of our size we really have a very small cohort of Readers. Surely you could exercise this ministry.

We are short of special ministers of Holy Communion, especially for the 12 noon Mass. Please give your name to
Canon Matt. As with readers, you don’t have to extra holy or extra good - just one of God’s children willing to serve the community by giving of your time and energy. Some of our sick and elderly are not able to get Holy Communion at home due to no special minister able to go to them regularly. So, in church or taking communion to someone at home - you could help.

Hospitalité de Notre Dame de Lourdes is the group which organises the pilgrimage to Lourdes every second year. Our group will be going on pilgrimage from 6 to 13 July this year. In order to ensure the pilgrimage is a success, the group is in urgent need of trained nurses and carers to work as part of a medical team caring for the sick pilgrims of our diocese. Male and female helpers for general duties are also required. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Debbie Gillon on 07531 016747. Thank you.
We have the booking details for ordinary pilgrims.

Thank you to those who have already filled a Parish Records form in. The list we are using to find you all is from Father Lynch’s time and is pretty much out of date with people moving, changing phone numbers, moving in ans so on. Would you oblige us by filling in a form and placing it in the box? Even if you think that we have your information, we are lacking some basic information such as first names, postcodes and so on. If your phone number is ex-directory, please mark that. All information will be kept confidential. This means that you cannot phone here for someone’s address - data protection does not allow that. Filling in the form is simply a polite request to assist us – you certainly do not have to do it.

The Blood Transfusion Service will be at the Civic Centre, Glasgow Street on Wednesday 25 February from 2.30 to 3.45 then 5.15 to 7.30 pm.

The Chidren's Liturgy is always looking for helpers. Volunteers cannot simply be recruited as they are required - we are subject to a strict regime from Disclosure Scotland. This means all volunteers have to complete the form and then await clearance but we need some more volunteers to ensure that there is a rota and that you are not on too frequently. Please give your name to Annie Watt or
Canon Matt. If your child is due to receive the Sacraments next year, this would be a good time to volunteer! Do it today! Please note that if you have not been 'disclosed' you cannot join the children at their Liturgy. You must simply leave them in the hall. If the children are unwilling to stay with the volunteers on duty you might have to wait till they are older and able to do so. Older brothers and sisters cannot just go with them. We have signed up to a strict policy that only those who have been 'disclosed' can be with the children and there can be no exceptions.

A few afternoon places are available in the nursery starting in August 2009 for children who have reached their third birthday. For more information and to register phone Josephine.

HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust is hosting a Race Night in memory of Larry Kernahan in the Parish Centre on Friday 6 March at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £2.50. Donation are welcome. The contacts are Esther and Josephine.

There will be a Quiz Night in Barony Church Hall on Friday 27 Feb at 7.30 pm. Bring your own bottle and pay at the door.

The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity
with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
