OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory
collection amounted to £715.75. We are grateful for your generous support
of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per month.
BANKER'S ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid
Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28
to us. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will? The recession
is hitting everyone. Thanks for the support you manage to give the Parish.
PARISH
CENTRE COLLECTION
Last
weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £310.13 - many thanks.
MISSION
SUNDAY
Today is Mission Sunday. The second collection this weekend is for
the Propagation of the Faith. If you use an envelope and sign it, then every pound
is worth £1.28 because of Gift Aid. If you are not a tax payer, please leave
the envelope unsigned.
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Elsie Brodie at 5.30 pm, Annie Watt at 10.00 am and Harry
Sammons and Marade Griffin at 12 noon.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
Is there any one
out there who would like to join the RCIA group? It will start within the next
couple of weeks.
ITALIAN NIGHT
The Italian Night is booked to take
place on Friday 27 November. This is the second partnership event between the
Italian Twinning Group and Parish Centre funds.
RACE NIGHT
A Race
Night with light supper in aid of the Parish Lourdes Group will be held in the
Parish Centre on Friday 13 November. Tickets costing £3 each are available
from Myriame Sammons. Half of the money raised will go to the Lourdes Fund and
half to the Parish Centre. All donations are welcome. Thank you.
CARITAS
IN VERITATE
Caritas in Veritate, the new Encyclical Letter of Pope Benedict
on finance, banking and justice in our society, is now published. It can be purchased
at the stall for the discounted price of £1.
CROSSHOUSE HOSPITAL
If you or a family member is going into Crosshouse Hospital and wishes a visit
from the hospital Chaplain, please let us know. If you or a family member is housebound,
please let us know. Unless told, we don’t know about it.
HELP FOR THE
SOLDIERS IN AFGHANISTAN
Thank you for all your kind donations to our shoebox
parcel appeal. Father Sharkey is presently home from the war, but we will continue
to support the Priest taking his place. We now have enough to fill the next delivery
of boxes. As our next delivery is going to arrive at Christmas time, we are looking
for small Christmas things to put into them. We would ask if anyone would like
to write a card or letter, donate any writing materials, give a small Christmas
pudding or any other small Christmas item. We would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
SAINT
ANNE'S GUILD
Saint
Anne's Guild meets in the Parish Centre at 7.00 pm every Tuesday.
New members are welcome.
SUNDAY TEAS
Is there a group of friends
who would like to form a new Sunday Teas team? Please speak to us about it.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL COFFEE
MORNING
The
Saint Vincent de Paul Society Coffee
Morning will be held on Saturday 31 October. There will be various
stalls and a prize raffle. Donations for stalls are most welcome. On this occasion,
the Conference plans to divide the proceeds of the event between Our Lady of the
Wayside Works Conference which runs the Ozanam Day Centre for the Homeless in
Glasgow and the Holy Spirit Works Conference in Greenock which supports the Inverclyde
Drugs Project. As always, we ask for your generous support and hope with your
help, to bring real practical assistance and Christian love and solidarity to
the many men and women in need who use and depend on these facilities.
PARISH REGISTRATION
We still do not have an up-to-date register of Parishioners
- even those who come to Mass. Many of you have filled in the little green forms
- thanks - and that is all you have to do. Some haven’t got round to it yet and
we would be grateful if you would do it. The Parish website has a link
for you to forward your name, address and phone number.
NEW LICENSING
LAWS
Due to the new laws, a drinks license for the Parish Centre must be obtained
28 days in advance. If children are to be present, then the number of children
must be noted on the application form. There can be no exceptions to the legislation.
Please keep this in mind if you wish to use the Parish Centre. We are unable to
get a licence at short notice, for example, a post-funeral reception. Arrangements
can be made with a caterer.
PARISH CENTRE
The Parish Centre is available
for functions. Please phone Michael or Fiona on 606424 for information and booking
forms. Booking conditions must be strictly adhered to.
SAINT
ANNE'S GUILD
Saint
Anne's Guild meets in the Parish Centre at 7.00 pm every Tuesday.
New members are welcome.
SAINT
MATTHEW’S ACADEMY MALAWI PARTNERSHIP
As Christmas approaches, the staff and
pupils of Saint Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats are preparing to send gifts to the
orphans in Mzuzu, Malawi. Last year, over 250 parcels were sent, providing the
only gift for these children. The gifts that are being sent cost around 50p, which
is a tiny fraction of what is spent on children in this country. Each parcel will
contain a lollipop, balloon, toothbrush, pen, pencil, Christmas card and party
toy. These items are being collected in school between 19 and 30 October. Please
pray for our success.
OFFERTORY PROCESSION
The Offertory Procession
at both weekday and Sunday Masses is a reminder that the gifts presented at the
altar are the peoples’ gifts, the gifts of everyone at Mass - gifts of bread and
wine which will become the Body and Blood of Christ. They need to be 'presented'.
If you are at a weekday Mass because you have requested that the Mass be offered
for someone, please agree to present the gifts from the small table near the altar.
THANKSGIVING MASS
Holy Mass will be offered in thanksgiving for all the
good wishes given to Peter Reilly of Saint Mary’s, Saltcoats who was recently
honoured by the Holy Father.
OPEN MEETING ON HOMELESSNESS IN NORTH AYRSHIRE
An open meeting on homelessness in North Ayrshire will be held in the Parish Centre
on Thursday evening at 7.00 pm. Everyone is welcome.
ANNUAL CEMETERY
MASS
The annual Mass in Ardrossan Cemetery is planned for Sunday 15 November
at 2.30 pm.
FATHER HAYES HOLIDAY
While Father Hayes is on holiday,
I am covering Saltcoats so it is unavoidable that it is not possible to have Mass
in Saint Peter’s every day.
HILLHOUSE CARE
Hillhouse Care is the
new name for The Innocents in Kilmarnock and continues to care for children in
need as before. They always welcome children's clothing in good condition. Contacts
are 01563 523362 and HillhouseCare@gmail.com.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The
Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and
well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks
to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity
with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is
the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
