which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
RETIRED PRIESTS FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Retired Priests Fund amounted to
£770.40 - many thanks.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Celia Andrew at 5.30 pm, Margaret Harvey
at 10.00 am and Marade Griffin at 12 noon.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 2 at 5.30 pm, Group 3 at 10.00

McLaughlin and Michelle Morton for primary 3 and Andrena Hughes and Lorraine
Cullinane for Primary 4. Our Liturgy is run by volunteers on a rota basis.
We are in need of some new volunteers to help us in running the groups. This
would be and ideal time to join as we are having an evening to apply for Disclosure
for volunteers as mentioned below. If you are interested, please contact the
Parish Office on 464063 and leave your name and number. Thanks.
SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Maria Hilferty's team.
DIOCESAN RETREAT FOR PRIESTS
The annual retreat for priests is at Drumalis, Larne this week. Canon
Matt is taking part. Father Poland (Stevenston) and Father Bell (Saltcoats)
are at home.
A SCOTTISH CELEBRATION OF SAINT ANDREW FOR CHURCH HEATING
To
raise funds for the new Church boiler, there will be A Scottish Celebration
of Saint Andrew in the Parish Centre on Friday 25 November at 7.00 pm. There
will be a bar, light supper, quiz and sing-song. Music will be provided by
Charlie Martin, George and Michael and The Von Crap Singers. Tickets, costing
£5, are available from the parish office and stall where raffle prize
donations will be gratefully accepted. Please support this fun evening to
pay for the boiler. Thanks.
CHURCH HEATING
The new heating system - with two boilers - is installed. This was an expense
of £10000 we didn’t expect. Any help you can give would be very, very
useful. I will re-issue the brown envelopes. A donation of £20+ - and
gift-aided if you can - would ease the pain. Some fundraising by parish groups
would be a great help. Brown envelope donations of £90 bring the total
to £2310.
CHRISTMAS CARDS AND CALENDARS
A lovely selection to Christmas cards and calendars is available at the Stall.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time.
SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND (SCIAF)
SCIAF is holding catch-up sessions for anyone interested in finding out more
about its work. You can meet parish volunteers in your diocese and chat to
SCIAF staff about the issues that matter to your parish. For more information,
phone 0141 354 5524, email rlamb@sciaf.org.uk
or visit www.sciaf2.org.uk/parish.
LOURDES WATER
There is some Lourdes Water available at the stall. A suggested donation for
the bottle only is £1.
SOCIAL EVENTS
During the winter months, we need to organise a few social events - for the
fun of it. The sail to Arran and the barbecue were well attended and enjoyed.
We have very heavy expenditure on a new heating boiler for the church and
the eventual painting of the church. Suggestions will always be welcome.
THE NEW MISSAL
A document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by
clicking here. We
have begun to use the new translation and the new Altar Missal will be available
for Advent. Pocket sized Mass Books are available from the stall at £2.
The responses and the (slightly) new versions of the Gloria and Creed are
your parts - most of the changes are in the priest’s parts of the Mass. The
Readings are not changing but they will conclude “The Word of the Lord” instead
of “This is the Word of the Lord.”. To bring some uniformity in Scotland the
Bishops ask that we stand from the invitation “Pray, brothers and sister….”
to the end of the “Holy, holy…” and then kneel for the Eucharistic Prayer.
We will introduce that shortly. Please leave the new Mass Response cards on
the pews.
SINGING THE MASS
Two music workshops for parish musicians, cantors and people who enjoy singing
have been organised by the Galloway Music Network. One was on Saturday 15
October. The second takes place in Saint Joseph’s Church, Kilmarnock on Saturday
12 November from 1.00 pm, concluding with the Vigil Mass. During the afternoon,
the group will have the opportunity to prepare, in some detail, music for
the evening Mass. Please visit www.lawrencesolutions.co.uk/music/
for more information, or contact Nicola Lawrence on 01465 714797. The Mass
of the Resurrection setting will be taught, hopefully in parts, and used at
both Masses. Booking forms are available from this website and from your parish
priest and parish musicians. If a parish would like to host an event like
this delivered by the Galloway Music Network please contact Nicola Lawrence
at the number given.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND
A diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land, led by Bishop Cunningham, has been
organised for 15 to 22 October 2012. It is expected that this pilgrimage group
will be quite small in number - between 30 and 40 pilgrims - therefore early
booking is recommended. For more information, please see the poster and leaflets
provided. Further details he obtained by contacting Mancunia Travel Limited.
PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
A pilgrimage to Lourdes by coach for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception
will take place between 6 and 11 December. Details are on the notice board.
CHRISTMAS IN LOURDES
A pilgrimage to Lourdes by coach, with no overnight travel, will take place
between 23 and 28 December. Details are on the notice board.
BIBLE STUDY
There will be afternoons of Bible Study at Smithstone House, Kilwinning on
Wednesdays 26 October, 2 and 9 November led by Father Jerry Sheehy SCJ from
2.00 to 4.00 pm. Participants will be looking at the First and Second Letters
of Peter. All are welcome.
GALLOWAY DIOCESAN LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION
The Galloway Diocesan Lourdes Hospitalité annual subscription of £2
is now due and members of this committee will distribute envelopes in the
porch after all Masses. We request the return of the envelopes the following
weekend and
the committee members will collect returns in the porch after all Masses.
ASSOCIATION OF SEPARATED AND DIVORCED CATHOLICS
As part of the pastoral outreach to separated and divorced Catholics in the
diocese, there will be an evening of prayer and reflection in Saint John's
Church, Cumnock, on Monday 7 November at 7.00 pm. Father William McFadden
will lead the prayer for the evening and there will also be input from Annette
Gray, the National Coordinator of the Association of Separated and Divorced
Catholics in Scotland. All who are separated or divorced are welcome to join
in this experience of prayer, and to come together for mutual support and
encouragement.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
