of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.

Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

We are in need of some new volunteers to help us in running the groups. This
would be and ideal time to join as we are having an evening to apply for Disclosure
for volunteers as mentioned below. If you are interested, please contact the
Parish Office on 464063 and leave your name and number. Thanks.
BARONY SAINT JOHN’S CHURCH
Our Barony Saint John's neighbours have suffered a second blow. Their church
has been out of use for several months and they have had their Sunday Worship
in their hall. Now the hall too has been declared unsafe and they are homeless.
Arrangements are being made for the congregation to share a building with
Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church but that will take a few weeks. I have offered
the use of the Parish Centre for four Sundays from 27 November until 18 December.
Those weeks, we will have to do without the teas which will resume after New
Year. I hope you will make our guests very welcome.
CHURCH HEATING
The help you are giving to pay for the new boiler is very, very useful. The
brown envelope donations of £20+ - and gift-aided if you can - is certainly
easing the pain. Some fundraising by parish groups would be a great help.
Brown envelope donations of £60 bring the total to £3341. We are
getting there!
CHRISTMAS CARDS AND CALENDARS
A lovely selection to Christmas cards and calendars is available at the Stall.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION - EXPLORING THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
Exploring the Catechism of the Catholic Church is the next in a series of
events and one you might enjoy. It takes place on Saturday 26 November from
11.30 am to 3.00 pm in Saint Joseph’s Church Hall, Kilmarnock.
WHY BELIEVE
Father Gerard McCabe, CSsR will give a series of four lectures in St John’s
Church Hall, Stevenston from 7.30 to 9.00 pm on the following dates.
Monday 14 November - Challenges To Belief
Wednesday 16 November - Belief, Reason and Goodness
Monday 21 November - Faith and the Problem of Evil
Wednesday 23 November - Learning to Believe
A SCOTTISH CELEBRATION OF SAINT ANDREW FOR CHURCH HEATING
To
raise funds for the new Church boiler, there will be A Scottish Celebration
of Saint Andrew in the Parish Centre on Friday 25 November at 7.00 pm. There
will be a bar, light supper, quiz and sing-song. Music will be provided by
Charlie Martin, George and Michael and The Von Crap Singers. Tickets, costing
£5, are available from the parish office and stall where raffle prize
donations will be gratefully accepted. Please support this fun evening to
pay for the boiler. Thanks.
SOCIAL EVENTS
During the winter months, we need to organise a few social events - for the
fun of it. The sail to Arran and the barbecue were well attended and enjoyed.
We have very heavy expenditure on a new heating boiler for the church and
the eventual painting of the church. Suggestions will always be welcome.
GALLOWAY LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ SUBSCRIPTIONS
The return the Galloway Lourdes Hospitalité subscriptions for 2011
so far is £162 - memberships £82 from 42 members and donations
of £80. Maybe some members have not returned their envelopes as yet.
Please hand in envelopes as soon as possible to Myriame Sammons. Mass is offered
in Lourdes for our members and benefactors.
50/50 CLUB
The November draw is on the last Sunday of the month. Renewals are due in
January for 2012. If you would like more information or to join please contact
the promoter on 469006.
BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE
The Blood Transfusion Service will be at the Civic Centre, Ardrossan on Tuesday
22 and Wednesday 23 November from 2.30 to 3.45 pm and 5.15 to 7.30 pm.
SUNG EVENING PRAYER OF THE CHURCH FOR ADVENT
The Evening Prayer of the Church will be sung in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral,
Ayr on Sunday 27 November at 7.00 pm to mark the beginning of the Advent season.
You are very welcome to this solemn, yet still time of prayer.
THANKS
Annie Watt wishes to thank those friends and parishioners for their prayers,
masses and cards received during her recent illness. Canon
McManus will offer two Masses in thanksgiving, one for friends
and parishioners and the other for all those who are sick.
SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND (SCIAF)
SCIAF is holding catch-up sessions for anyone interested in finding out more
about its work. You can meet parish volunteers in your diocese and chat to
SCIAF staff about the issues that matter to your parish. For more information,
phone 0141 354 5524, email rlamb@sciaf.org.uk
or visit www.sciaf2.org.uk/parish.
THE NEW MISSAL
A document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by
clicking here. Please
be patient. Having to struggle a little bit with new ways of saying things
means that we are paying more attention to the words we say at Mass! Pocket
sized Mass BooksPocket sized Mass Books are available from the stall at £2.
The responses and the (slightly) new versions of the Gloria and Creed are
your parts - most of the changes are in the priest’s parts of the Mass. The
Readings are not changing but they will conclude “The Word of the Lord” instead
of “This is the Word of the Lord.”. To bring some uniformity in Scotland the
Bishops ask that we stand from the invitation “Pray, brothers and sister….”
to the end of the “Holy, holy…” and then kneel for the Eucharistic Prayer.
We will introduce that shortly. Please leave the new Mass Response cards on
the pews.
DIOCESAN PODCASTS
There is a new website for the podcast recordings of the Sunday scripture
reflections offered by priests and laity of the diocese. Go to www.GallowayPodcasts.org.uk
to listen to the reflections. In addition, at the site you will find a podcast
recording from Father Willie Boyd on vocations promotion and the forthcoming
Being Church day to be held on 13 November.
A
CHOIRED TASTE
A Choired Taste, a Kilmarnock based choir, are bringing a Charity Concert
of Christmas music to Saint Cuthbert’s Church, Saltcoats, on Sunday 4 December
at 7.30 pm. Tickets, priced £5, are available from William Parker on
01294 471207 or, subject to availability, at the door on the evening of the
concert.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for

PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
