SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last
weekend's collection amounted to £803.37. We are grateful for your generous
support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per
month.
BANKER'S ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using
a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed
a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is
worth £1.28 to us. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your
will?
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the
Parish Centre amounted to £364.87 - many thanks.
RETIRED
PRIESTS FUND COLLECTION
Our Retired Priests Fund collection was postponed
in September, though some of you put in your envelopes. The collection will be
taken up this weekend. We have held over the envelopes already in and they will
be added to the collection. Gift Aid envelopes are available.
NOVEMBER
LISTS
November Lists are available at the back of the church. During November,
Holy Mass is offered for the souls of all our deceased relatives, friends, priests
and fellow parishioners. The List is a way of taking time to remember people individually.
Put the envelope in the collection, in the basket at the altar or leave it at
the office or sacristy.
RACE NIGHT
A Race Night will be held on 14
November at 8.00 pm to raise funds for a replacement carpet in the Church. Tickets
costing £2.50 are available from the Parish Office.
Sponsorship and prizes are very welcome.
FATHER
JOHN
Canon
Matt is going to Turin on Monday to visit Father
John and
take him warm clothes and some books he left here. He will take your good wishes
to Father
John.
ARMISTICE
DAY
Today is Armistice Day. There will be a short service in the Eucharist
Union Church, Glasgow Street at 1.00 pm followed by the wreath-laying service
at the War Memorial in Glasgow Street. Everyone is welcome. 12 noon Mass needs
to be 'neat' to enable participation at the joint service.
ANNUAL
CEMETERY MASS
We will join our friends from Saint
Brendan's and Saint
Mary's Churches, Saltcoats to celebrate Mass in Ardrossan Cemetery on
Sunday 23 November at 2.30 pm. We cannot guarantee the weather or a seat. If you
have a folding chair and a rug, it might be wise to bring them.
IN YOUR
TWENTIES OR THIRTIES?
A programme of events in Glasgow for people in their
twenties has been arranged. Contact Jenny@TwentySomething.eu
for details. For
a programme of events in Glasgow and the Three Towns area, send a text message
to Claire on 07530 926497 or email
Hugh@project2030.fsnet.co.uk
or visit www.project2030.org.uk.
These projects are sponsored by the Sacred Heart Fathers.
VERONA
SISTERS' CALENDARS
The Verona Sisters will be here on 22 and 23 November to
sell their calendars at £1 each.
CHRISTMAS
RAFFLE
Christmas raffle tickets at 50p each are on sale at the stall. The first
prize is a Nativity Candle Bridge, the second prize is a nativity set, the third
prize is a box of Christmas cards with card holder and the fourth prize is a box
of chocolates. Proceeds will be divided between The Innocents and the HCPT 207
Group.
SEVENTIETH BIRTHDAY OF SAINT PETER’S CHURCH
At the meeting of
the Finance Committee this week, we decided to take the plunge and go ahead with
the task of recarpeting the Church and panelling the Blessed Sacrament Altar.
Both projects together will cost in the region of £10000. We have a legacy
of £1000 from Tom McKay to start us off and the Race Night is coming up
soon. I am making an appeal for 400 donations of £20 to cover the rest of
the cost. I realise it is not a good time but if everyone has a hand in paying
for the work, we will do it easily. Envelopes will be available and if you are
a taxpayer and fill in the details on the envelope, your £20 will become
more than £25 under Gift Aid. You can put whatever you want in the envelope.
£20 is only a suggestion. This week's income with Gift Aid brings the total
to £1805.
PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church
in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each
individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the
welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity with the Church
and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility
of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together
to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young
people and vulnerable adults.
