OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £695.88
- many thanks. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish and the
Diocese to which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH
CENTRE COLLECTION
Last
weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £329.04 - many thanks.
BANKER'S
ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe
handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average
of £3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Have you
signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish
is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you
consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Margaret Brogan at 5.30 pm, Annie Watt at 10.00 and Angela
Body at 12 noon.
If you would consider becoming a Reader at Mass please speak to Canon
Matt or the Parish Office on 464063. Thank you. We are especially short at
the 10.00 am Sunday Mass.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's
Liturgy is offered during the 10.00 am Mass. The group who offer this service
is always grateful to have new names on the rota. You must have disclosure before
you can take part and that is easily arranged. Please phone Michelle in the Parish
Office on 464063 on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass on Sunday? During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s
Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental
Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes
and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.
SUNDAY TEAS
The Sunday Teas groups have shrunk a little bit lately and two - or even one -
new groups would be great. Is anyone willing to gather a few friends and become
a Sunday Tea Group? The more groups the less often your turn comes round. Please
contact Canon Matt or the
Parish Office on 464063.
CANON
JOHN WALLS
A
Requiem Mass - to which everyone is invited - will be offered for the repose of
the soul of Canon John Walls
in Saint
John's Church, Stevenston on Monday 26 April at 7.00 pm. Canon
Walls served in Saint Peter's Church from 1964 to 1968 and died on
28 February 2010.
CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - SAFEGUARDING AWARENESS
AND TRAINING
A course on safeguarding awareness and training will be held
on Sunday 16 May from 2.00 to 3.00 pm. New and present volunteers are invited
to our new training programme in the Parish Centre. Updating training and raising
awareness is mandatory for all volunteers whatever role they undertake, for example,
Saint Vincent de Paul
Society, Children’s Liturgy and so on. Any other parishioners who
would like to come along and join in our safeguarding procedures are most welcome.
HILLHOUSE CARE
Hillhouse Care, formerly The Innocents, continues to care
for children in need as before. Clothing, toys and baby equipment are gratefully
received as are goods to sell the charity shop. Please phone 602179 for an uplift.
USED STAMPS FOR SAINT PATRICK’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY
There is a box by
the Stall door for used Christmas stamps. A letter of thanks has been received
from Father John McLaughlin. The proceeds from the stamps pay the salaries of
catechists in various parts of Africa.
TRIP TO WALES
There will be
a trip to Wales from 31 May to 4 June. Places are still available - one twin and
two double rooms. For further information, please telephone 601050.
FATHER
MARTIN CHAMBERS
Father Martin Chambers is the chaplain to Crosshouse Hospital.
He can be contacted on 01563 533587.
KITS FOR KIDS
Kits for Kids
tokens in Daily Record can be handed in to the Parish Office and will be passed
on to local football teams.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes
are now available at the stall. Very many thanks to those who pay their collection
by standing order. The new financial year brings its own problems but we are making
ends meet. Your continuing support of the Parish is much appreciated.
WHITE RIBBON CAMPAIGN
The following communication has been received.
North
Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership is participating in the White Ribbon Campaign
during Community Planning Week this year. The involvement and support of the churches
in North Ayrshire would be most welcome as part of this campaign. You and any
interested members of your congregation are invited to come along to a Curry Night
on Monday 17 May at 7.00 pm in Ardrossan Rugby Club, Sorbie Road, Ardrossan to
hear about the campaign. You are also invited to a pledge signing event in the
Council Chambers, Cunninghame House, Irvine on Tuesday 18 May at 11.00 am. The
White Ribbon Scotland campaign gives men in Scotland a chance to speak out against
domestic abuse. In Scotland, approximately 1000 domestic abuse incidents are reported
every week. Most cases - 85% - involve men's violence against women. Most men
in Scotland are not violent but violence against women will not end until men
play their part to change the attitudes and assumptions that allow it to continue.
This is a chance to hear more about how you can help in opposing violence against
women and sign a pledge condoning it in all its forms. There will be a short explanation
about the campaign before the meal and an opportunity to sign the pledge at this
event as well as at the pledge signing event the following day. Further details
about the campaign are available on the White Ribbon Scotland website. There is
no charge to attend the Curry Night but it would be helpful if you could confirm
if you can come along so that we have numbers for catering purposes. Please let
me know if you can attend this night and/or the pledge signing event by emailing
MAdams@North-Ayrshire.gov.uk.
THANKS
Maria
and Martin Paterson completed their Sponsored Cycle around Millport last weekend
in aid of Father John’s Tanzanian
Fund. Approx £100 was raised. Thank you to all those who sponsored us and
we would be grateful if you could leave your sponsorship money at the stall for
collection or to Maria herself after 10.00 am Mass. Again, thank you very much.
A
NIGHT AT THE RACES
Ashley Brown and Declyn Hood invite you to join them for
some Race Night fun and disco on Friday 7 May at 7.00 pm in Saint Peter’s Parish
Centre. Funds raised will be for the Burakudo Karate Club trip to the World Championships
in Brazil! Tickets costing £3 are available from Michael or Fiona on 606424.
A light supper is included. All are welcome.
CONCERT
Kilwinning Academy
Music Department is having a concert on Wednesday 28 April in Mansfield Trinity
Church, Kilwinning at 7.00 pm in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice. Tickets are available
at the door. Your support for this cause would be much appreciated.
THANKS
Grateful
thanks to Saint Clare for favours received. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised,
adored and glorified and loved today and every day throughout the world, Amen.
DK
PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church
in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each
individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the
welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is
the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
